Brazilian firm Wald, Antunes, Vita e Blattner Advogados has added two new partners by hiring the CEO of São Paulo’s state environmental agency to lead its offering in that area, while it has promoted a lawyer in its disputes group.

The Highly Recommended outfit announced the appointments of Patrícia Iglecias and Pâmela Silveira Leite to its partnership on 6 March.

The firm now counts a total of 13 partners, six of whom are women. The figure is higher than the average for Brazil where, according to Latin Lawyer’s latest research, the portion of women in firm partnerships stands at around 32%.

Iglecias specialises in civil and environmental law and draws on 30 years of experience both in government and private practice roles. The newly-minted partner joins Wald Antunes after a four-year stint handling state-wide environmental issues at São Paulo’s environmental agency CETESB, where she was the first female CEO of the company. She assumed the top position in 2019, four years after launching environment-focused boutique Iglecias Advogados. Before that, Iglecias spent one year as the environment secretary of the state São Paulo following a five-year tenure as a consultant at Viseu Advogados.

In the litigation group, Leite was promoted to partner after 16 years at Wald Antunes, where she carved out her career. The partner focuses her practice on corporate, civil and administrative disputes, as well as class action and bankruptcy cases. Leite first began working at the firm in 2007 and became an associate two years later.

Wald Antunes has established its reputation over seventy years as one of Brazil’s most sought-after disputes boutiques. Earlier this year, the firm served as trustees to Oi’s debtors after the telecoms giant filed for provisional protection from creditors at a Rio de Janeiro court, just months after the company exited its judicial reorganisation proceedings.
